Construction Begins at Historic One721 Building Along 3rd Avenue North

Construction has begun at One721, a historic redevelopment building that was purchased by Harbert Realty Services and a JV partner. Located at 1721 3rd Avenue North, this historic redevelopment is being branded as the One721 Building. Casey Howard, Vice President/Broker at Harbert Realty, represented the buyer. Howard and Charlie Norton with Harbert are handling leasing of available space. Stewart Perry (General Contractor), Robertson Bank (Financing), and Black Design Architecture (Architect) are key members in the redevelopment.

The Ā±14,000 square foot building, which was originally the Seals piano store, is being completely renovated with modern finishes and a unique design. Alabama Futures Fundā€“ a seed-stage venture capital fund focused on supporting and growing entrepreneurial activity and economic development in Alabamaā€“ will occupy space on the second floor.

The historic qualities of One721 include brick and beam design. Features such as hardwood floors, beadboard ceilings, dramatic 12-foot (1st floor) and 15-foot (2nd floor) ceilings, and second floor skylights will be retained and restored. In addition, the property will feature a new vaulted lobby and all new building systems.

The purchase is one of many recent transactions seen in the nearby Theatre and Innovation Districts. Activity within a block of the building includes the renovation of the Lyric Theatre, Gray Construction Building, Pizitz and the Phoenix Building Lofts.
