Harbert Realty to be Developer for Red Mountain Theatre Company’s New Arts Campus

BIRMINGHAM, AL – APRIL 30, 2018 – Red Mountain Theatre Company is proud to announce the start of its Second Act. From its beginning in 1979 as Summerfest Musical Theatre to the now Red Mountain Theatre Company, RMTC takes the stage for its best number yet, the creation of an arts campus in the heart of the Lakeview District in the Southside of Birmingham Alabama. On the site of an 100-year-old bread factory and previous home to ABSCO Fireplace & Patio warehouse, RMTC’s art campus will span a half city block between 27th and 28th Streets South on 5th Avenue South.

Harbert Realty Services will be the developer for a new arts campus for Red Mountain Theatre Company’s (RMTC) in the heart of the Lakeview District in the Southside of Birmingham, Alabama. On the site of a100-year-old bread factory and previous home to ABSCO Fireplace & Patio warehouse, RMTC’s art campus will span a half city block between 27th and 28th Streets South on 5th Avenue South.

“It has been a dream for us to consolidate our programming under one roof allowing us to better serve our community,” said Executive Director Keith Cromwell. “I envision a campus that can also be a laboratory for the arts – a “collaboratory” – where artists can flourish, where for profit and nonprofit can come together with the sparks of creativity flying to make the impossible possible.”

LIVE Design Group (architects), Brasfield & Gorrie (general contractor) and Harbert Realty Services (developer) are the key team members.

Details on a completion date for the project, as well as the full scope of the construction process remain in development.
