Strayer University Moving to Two North Twentieth Building

A private university is moving its Birmingham campus from Grandview Parkway off U.S. 280 to downtown.

Strayer University is taking 6,000 square feet on a long-term lease at 2 North 20th St. The space is expected to be complete by mid July. Harbert Realty Vice President Tanner Sumners represented the landlord.

The Washington, D.C.-based school had been operating at 3570 Grandview Parkway since 2006. The university said its current location off 280 will be “streamlined” for a more efficient cafe-style campus that will prioritize more space for students to network and collaborate with their peers and faculty.

Since most of the students are working adults who take courses after working a full-time job, the new location downtown will provide them with greater accessibility as well as a quiet place to study before heading home for the day.
